Cedar Trellis

What is a cedar trellis? I get asked this question almost 6 times a day! This is what I always tell anybody that asks. "A cedar trellis is exactly what is sounds like it is!" Most people probably have a trellis at their home or on their decks and don't even realize it. The simplest cedar trellis is made of cedar planks that interweave in a grid pattern. The most common use for these is to allow plants and vines the ability to climb the trellis. This is why I always follow-up my previous statement with, "It is the art canvas for mother nature herself to do her work."

Sometimes you will find a trellis built along the side of the home. This creates a beautiful tapestry of naturally woven plantlife, but also creates a climbable surface. Be aware of this when you place your trellis. If you buy a cedar trellis for your deck, there is not much to worry about, unless you don't like people climbing on your deck.

Some people prefer the cedar lattice to be diagonal. A diagonal lattice for your cedar trellis produces a visually appealing appearance. It's also much more difficult for unsavory types to climb the diagonal lattice as it is difficult to get a foothold. So there you have it! A solution to the climbing problem that is also the most beautiful cedar trellis you can have. There's no way to lose with a cedar trellis.
